Strawberry Teas Forever

Strawberry sponge cake was the order of the day at an event held at a -based day centre which has raised over £600 for their welfare fund.

, on Mill Lane has hosted a strawberry cream tea event which is fast becoming one of the highlights of their social programme.

Support worker Karenza Malton, who organised the event, said: “It was by far the best strawberry cream tea we have held to date.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me organise the event, especially all parents, carers and members of the public who attended on the day to show their support.”

Home-made cakes and light refreshments were served up, while live music was provided by guitar and vocal duo Ben Cook and Jack Parker, courtesy of Westwood sessions, a voluntary organisation for young artists.

Art work created by the older people’s group who attend Millers was sold at the event, alongside a selection of plants all cultivated in the day centre’s roof top garden.

A grand total of £620 was raised for the day centre’s welfare fund to go towards excursions and activities.
