Theresa May Appointment As Tory Leader Welcomed By Local MP

for Beverley and Holderness has welcomed the news that his colleague Theresa May is to be the leader of the party and the countries new Prime Minister.

In a statement released following the news that Andrea Leadsom had stepped aside allowing Theresa May to take on the role as leader of the Conservatives Mr. Stuart said;

“I am delighted that Theresa is the new leader of and I am confident she will deliver the strong and proven leadership Britain needs at this time.”

“She will have my full support as Prime Minister as she delivers Brexit and fulfils the wider manifesto commitments the Conservatives were elected to carry out last year.”

“I also want to congratulate Andrea Leadsom for stepping down in the dignified manner she did this morning. I know Andrea has a bright future ahead and I hope she will play a significant role in the Government.”

Theresa May herself has addressed fellow MPs and the media since her success was confirmed. She said that she honoured and humbled and paid tribute to Andrea Leadsom for the dignity she showed.

Theresa May who support the remain campaign during the referendum will take over David Cameroon who stepped down after losing a vote to keep the UK within the EU.

However she has made it clear there will be no U Turn on EU saying ‘Brexit means Brexit.’

As a politician she is the longest-serving Home Secretary for sixty years. She has pursued reform of the police, taken a harder line on drug policy and introduced restrictions on immigration.

Other moments in her political career include the signing of a deal with Saudi Arabia.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the hardline interior minister, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef has received some criticism and was described as ‘A Murky Secret’ after the government refused to release details of the agreement, not even recording the trip taken by Minsters.

Theresa May will take on the role of Prime Minster this Wednesday with over whelming support from her fellow party members.
