Beverley Grammar School Host Transition Event For Year 6 Students

Recently Grammar School has hosted two events for local primary schools to prepare the Year 6 students for the transition into secondary education.

Beverley Minster, Wawne and St Nicholas Primary Schools attended an event hosted by HETA (Humberside Engineering Training Association) that focused on the use of mathematics and geometry.

Students built models of pyramids, and then had great fun as they re-created their models into a giant pyramid that filled the Grammar School hall.

A STEM event (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) was attended by Tickton Primary School and hosted by Ebuyer and the Tablet Academy.

Pupils attending this event used tablet technology and the internet for independent learning on the water cycle and how to make rain. They went on to “solve crimes” using photographic technology.

Mrs Debbie Elgey, Transition Co-ordinator at , who organised the events said;

“These were two fantastic events, and it was very clear just how much the children were enjoying themselves.”

“Despite their excitement, they were all impeccably behaved and a real credit to their schools.”

“It is a pleasure to invite our local primary schools to take part in activities here at the Grammar School, and meet our future students. I shall look forward to getting to know them even more in September.”
