Have You Got What It Takes To Be A Poker Champion?

Poker players are being given the opportunity to be crowned The Game Bird Poker Champion at a special event being Holme Church Lane pub.

Winners of the tournament stand to collect a fantastic prize with The Game Bird putting up a poker table complete with a full set of chips for the first prize while there are bar tabs of £20 and £10 respectively for the runners-up.

Entry into the poker tournament costs just £10 with all the money be collected been donated to the charity Frederick Holmes School which is an all age community special school for pupils with severe physical disabilities and those with profound and multiple needs.

Manager of The Game Bird Mark Hamilton said;

“As a pub, we are part of a regular poker league where we play matches on a Wednesday night. This, however, is a special event and anyone who plays poker or indeed wishes to play poker for the first time while supporting a great cause are more than welcome to come along.”

The poker tournament is part of a week-long initiative by Bateman’s and The Game Bird Golf Society is just one of many great events taking place at The Game Bird.

It is hoped that through a week of fundraising, they will be able to come up with £17,000 required by Frederick Holme School to purchase a minibus.

On Thursday evening from 8 PM, there is a quiz night and on Friday evening from 8 PM there will be a charity auction where people will get the opportunity to bid not only on goods but also be able to bid and buy an evening with their favourite member of staff.

Proceedings carry on into the weekend when on Saturday from 9 PM the game Bird will host a comedy night with things coming to a conclusion on Sunday at 8 PM when the pub stage race night.

Following Sunday’s highly successful family fun day, which was attended by 150 people the poker tournament promises to be an interesting affair.
