Blue & Golds Hope Cup Final Support Will Be Their Extra Man

The will play York Acorn ‘A’, in their biggest game for many years in the 40/20 cup final, this Friday evening at Elmpark Way Heworth ARLFC in York YO31 1DX.

Kick-off is 7.30pm and club have laid on a double-Decker bus to take both players and supporters. The bus is due to depart at 5pm.

Supporters are requested to be prompt with the likelihood of traffic around York on a Friday teatime lengthening the journey time. There is a small charge of £5 for supporters on the bus. The admission charge for spectators is £2, and under 16s are admitted for free at the Heworth ground.

Chairman Dave Sherwood is hoping for a good following at the final. He said;

“We always feel very lucky at the level of support we attract to our home games and hopefully a big travelling support from those who have chosen the bus or to drive themselves, there could turn out to be our extra man, especially with our opponents playing in their home city.”

There would appear to be little to choose between the two sides. Beverley are appearing in their first 40/20 cup final playing in only their second season in the Yorkshire Mens League.

Beverley’s opponents York Acorn are appearing in their fifth 40/20 final winning the cup in 2013, having being in the Yorkshire Mens League from its inception.

The York outfit holds the upper hand in encounters so far this season defeating the blue and golds 40-16 in an April clash at the Beverley Leisure Centre.

and Scott Taylor will not be phased by this as fatigue played a big part in that defeat as it was Beverley’s third game in eight days.
