Peddle Power : Coast to Coast Off Road

Peddle Power : Coast to Coast Off Road

Two local men, Lee Stephenson and Mick Asquith are due to set off on a bike trip that will see them travel coast to coast, off road.

Cycling between 50 and 60 miles each day the pair aim to bike from Ravenglass to Robin Hoods Bay, covering a distance of approximately 200 miles.

While tackling their challenge the pair are looking to raise money for two charities, Cancer Research and the Alzheimer’s Society, both of which are causes close to their hearts.

Speaking about their bike ride Mr. Stephenson told .net;

“Myself and Mick are both keen mountain bikers and recently we decided that we would set ourselves a challenge of doing the coast to.”

“We picked the two charities as Mick’s wife has breast cancer and I have close family friends that have been effected by Alzheimer’s.”

“This is normally done on road bikes but we decided to do it off road as much as possible. Passing through the Lake District and the North Yorkshire moors to the east coast.”

When asked if the pair had done anything like this before Mr. Stephenson said;

“Nothing this size, we both ride regular and I have ridden Mount Snowdon and also Ben Macdui which is the second highest mountain in the UK at 1308 metres. But this is more an endurance challenge given the number of miles each day.”

“We are set off on our challenge on May 7 from Whitehaven, riding across the lakes and North Yorkshire moors and finishing in .”
