Private Hire Firm Ordered To Pay Thousands in Costs

A court has ordered the owner of a luxury private hire car company to pay East Riding of Yorkshire Council costs of £6,000.

A spokesman for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

“The council has a duty of care to the public to ensure the taxis and private hire vehicles they are using have the correct licenses in place.”

“The council has no hesitation in revoking or suspending licenses if companies or drivers are found to be in breach – be it a luxury private hire business or a taxi on a local rank.”

The order was made on Tuesday, 22 March 2016 at after the owner of , Marc Mason, withdrew his appeals against the council’s decision to revoke his private hire operator’s licence and his private hire drivers licence.

As a result of the appeals being withdrawn, both the revocation of the private hire operator’s licence and the private hire driver’s licence remain in force.
