Rita Hunt Court Officially Opened by Peter Turner

The official opening of Rita Hunt Court took place with a ribbon-cutting conducted by Councillor Peter Turner, Chairman of .

Rita Hunt Court which is located on the Swinemoor Estate in cost £6.5m to develop and was funded by a £1m from central government and East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s capital programme and borrowing.

Now complete the 40 self-contained two bedroom apartments are to be let at an affordable rent to people with a need for personal care and come complete with 24-hour on-site care.

Communal facilities include a lounge, laundry, assisted bathing, treatment room and hobby room/meeting room.

Going forward the scheme will be managed by the council and is jointly funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the Homes and Communities Agency and the Department of Health.

At the event was the husband and family members of the late Rita Hunt, a former council employee who the building is named after.

Guests at the opening were offered refreshments including a basket of spring treats that had been made by a young person who attends .
