Colts Show They Can Mix Business and Pleasure as They Smash Rotherham

Party party boys! Well the lads from Beverley certainly did the night before.

With bleary eyes and heads hung low the lads from Beverley travelled to Rotherham who had previously proven to be light opposition.

Despite numerous lectures about the evils of drink the lads with two parties to choose from decided to make the most of them and certainly there was strong competition as to who looked the worse for wear.

There were a  couple of enforced changes and Steve Price debuted at scrum half, even though his middle name was Gordons. From the first whistle you could never tell it was his first game at scrumhalf and he bossed the position and did himself proud.

The scoring began after eight minutes of slogging in the mud with a fine run in by Connor Egan. Unconverted the score was (0/5)

With a heavy muddy pitch Rotherham fumbled and Will Cook drove from about 8 meters out from the back of the scrum to score a fine solo finish, unconverted. (0/10)

Play assumed a pattern with Beverley retaining ball and when capable spinning out to the backs. This pattern saw backs tries scored by , Jake Marin (2) and Jacob Holmes. Two of which were converted. Halftime score (0/29)

The second half saw Beverley playing into the “good” end where there was some grass!

The procession of tries was as follows: Jake Marin, Benjamin Jackson, Connor Egan, Ben Jackson, Jack Garvin, Connor Egan and Jack Garvin. Giving Jake, Connor and Ben hat-tricks. With four conversions the final score was (0/72)

The game was contested throughout by Rotherham and there was a substantial fight. In true Meagher fashion Tom was right at the bottom of it.

Coaches praised the Beverley lads for their efforts ahead of what will be a tough month, they said;

“Well done guys. We now have four of the toughest games at home in February and this will make or break Beverley’s season.”

“After this month we will be all but done. So fellas let’s make sure that everyone is available this month for all matches and training. Have no fear I will be on your cases.”

Final Score: Rotherham 0 Beverley RUFC Colts 72 | Reported by Phil Rann
