Beverley AC Urge People To Make Note Of Beverley 10K Date

Beverley AC are urging who plan on taking part in this year’s Hall Construction Beverley 10K that they make a note of the date when entries will be open.

Given the popularity of the Beverley 10K the number of places being made available to runners has been increases by 200 for the 2016 race.

Andrew Grainger, from Beverley AC said;

“Beverley AC’s highly popular Hall Construction Beverley 10k and B&A Scaffolding 2k Fun Run will take place this year on Sunday the 8th of May.”

“The race is now in its 23rd year and demand for places continues grows year on year.”

“Currently the male record is still held by an East Riding runner, Andy Lyons, a record he has held since 1995 when he finished with a time of 30:17.”

“Lizzie Adams of Hallamshire Harriers took the Women’s record in 34:54 in 2010.”

“So for all the speed merchants out there, those are the targets.”

Last year the Beverley 10K was won by of Thames Hares and Hounds who Completed a hat-trick at Beverley with a time of 33:03. The ladies race was won by Carla Stansfield from City of Hull AC in 36:40.

For many the Beverley 10K presents them with a unique challenge to take on a course that encompasses their home town of Beverley, Mr. Grainger added;

“However the Beverley 10K also represents a great opportunity to everyone to run a challenging 10k in fabulous surroundings.”

“This year places are limited to 1750 which is up on last year when we had 1550 runners for the 10k and 300 for the Fun Run, so get in quickly as places sell out in hours.”

“Entry is on line only and opens on 12 noon on Saturday 6 February. We are urging people to put it their phone planners, calendars and diaries to avoid disappointment.”
