Newbegin House Make it into The Good Hotel Guide

Newbegin House, ’s only five star , has been included in The Good Hotel Guide 2016.

Walter and Nuala Sweeney, the owners of Newbegin House, attended a champagne reception at the Independent Hotel Show where they received an Editor’s Choice Award as this year’s discovery.

Entirely independent, The Good Hotel Guide accepts no payments from hotels or Bed &Breakfasts for inclusion in their definitive guide.

Newbegin House is one of only two establishments in the whole of East Yorkshire and the only one in Beverley to be included in the prestigious Guide.

This latest honour for Newbegin House comes soon after it gained a silver award from the AA to go with its existing five star awards and breakfast awards from both the AA and Quality in .

Newbegin House also holds the number one slot for Beverley from Tripadvisor visitors  for the fourth year running and is a former winner of the REYTA award for a remarkable night’s sleep.

Commenting on the latest accolade, Mr. Sweeney said:

“We are very proud to be included in the Good Hotel Guide, which we use ourselves when looking for somewhere to stay.”

“We are always striving to improve the   and provide a warm welcome for our guests,  whether they come for a mini break from Hull or for a fortnight from Australia.”

Mr. Sweeney, a solicitor, and his wife Nuala, a consultant radiologist, have just celebrated the completion of a ten year restoration project for Newbegin House. Built in 1746, it has 39 rooms including 5 cellars and is grade 2 listed.

The walled gardens have been landscaped, with the original paths restored, and two ponds and a waterfall added.

During 2015, a Georgian barn was added to the property and is now being restored for possible residential use.
