Remember Your Loved Ones This Christmas in Beverley

St Mary's Church, Beverley

across and the East Riding are being invited to remember their loved ones at one of two special services organised by Dove House Hospice.

Light up a Life offers families across the region the chance to put their loved one’s name in lights and join together with family and friends at a poignant remembrance service in Hull and Beverley.

The unique celebration will see the community join together as they remember the life of someone special. It will feature touching readings, music and a time for quiet reflection; candles will also be lit in remembrance.

For many people, Christmas is a special time to remember their loved ones and share cherished memories.

John Creasey, head of the family support team at Dove House Hospice, said:

“Christmas can be a difficult time for those of us who are bereaved with the cold, dark nights often adding to the sense of loss we feel especially as others seem to be enjoying the festivities.”

“However, Christmas is traditionally a time of light breaking into the darkness and as a hospice we try to bring light into situations that can seem dark and hopeless.”

“Light up a Life is an opportunity for people to come together and remember their loved ones knowing they are in the company of others who share in their pain and sadness.”

“It is very important that all of us are able to remember and reminisce about our loved ones– they may be out of sight, but they are never far from our minds.”

“It is truly a beautiful sight and the wonderful thing about these celebrations is that they are inclusive to everyone within our community, regardless of whether they have a connection to our hospice.”

You can dedicate a light in memory of a loved one by making a donation to Dove House Hospice, you will receive a commemorative card including a dedication star to hang on your tree at home.

You will also be invited to join us at one of our Light up a Life services at Holy Trinity Church, Hull on Friday 4th December at 7:30pm or on Saturday 5th December at St Mary’s Church, Beverley at 5pm.

The service provides a chance to remember loved ones, share memories and celebrate their lives whilst enjoying poignant readings, music and Christmas carols.

A key highlight of the service will be when the lights on the stunning 20ft Christmas trees are switched on, which will also be adorned with dedication stars in recognition of all those remembered.
