Small Business Saturday Bus To Visit Beverley

People interested in finding out more about a national initiative promoting the benefits of supporting local small businesses can do so on Tuesday, 10 November when the Small Saturday Bus visits ’s .

Supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.

In 2015, Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday, 5 December.

The Small Business Saturday Bus Tour is travelling around the UK, spreading word about the campaign far and wide and will be in Beverley on Tuesday, from 1-3pm.

Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for economic investment and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

“Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that this council whole-heartedly endorses.”

“The East Riding is home to thousands of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) working across a whole range of sectors.”

“The council does all it can to support local business and it is vitally important that consumers, where possible, shop local as this benefits the area’s economy and helps businesses to flourish and prosper.”

“Anyone who would like to find out more about Small Business Saturday is invited to come along and see the bus in Saturday Market, pick up some of the promotional material and speak to staff.”

Commenting on the bus tour, Small Business Saturday National Campaign Director, Michelle Ovens says:

“Small Business Saturday is an exceptional example of collaboration and co-operation with small businesses teaming up in communities around the UK.”

“The bus tour is a very visible way of enabling small businesses to engage with the campaign as we head around the UK, drumming up interest, support and enthusiasm.”

“We are visiting even more places this year and are really looking forward to welcoming small business owners and consumers to the bus to get information and find out ways in which they can support small businesses and make the day work most effectively for companies in their own communities.”
