Tanners Fight Back Twice To Earn a Point

came away with an unlikely point as they drew with Orchard AFC at the .

In an intriguing East Riding County League fixture the Tanners may feel they should have come away with all the points.

Speaking after match Hodgsons Anthony Steer said;

“It was a good game where I thought we had the better of it. Two slack bits of defending cost us the all 3 points.”

“Nevertheless it was good to see the team work hard and come from a goal behind twice.”

The Tanners who have enjoyed a good start to the season fell behind to the league leaders mid way through the first half.

Hodgsons however can count themselves lucky they were not blown away in the first half after a catalogue of errors allowed the Orchard three clear cut chances to extend their lead, chances the visitors were unable to capitalise on.

With half time approaching Jordon Dexter popped up inside the six yard box tapping home to level scores at the break.

Right from the restart Orchard went looking for goal and were duly rewarded sparking the Tanners into life.

Hodgsons again got themselves back on level terms as Mark Richardson found the back of the net to earn the home a team a vital point.

Steer added;

“On the balance of the game it’s 2 points lost for us. Richardson hit the post late on and we missed a couple of chances, although Orchard where very resilient and hung on.”

“Then again to come from behind twice against top of the league we will settle for a point.”

Hodgsons remain sixth in the East Riding County League, five points of the top but more importantly above arch rivals , a side they meet later this month.

Next Saturday the Tanners travel to the Hollis Recreation Ground where they will take on Hornsea Town Reserves.

Final Score: Hodgsons FC 2 Orchard AFC 2
