Dominic Usher Comes Seventh at Brands Hatch

Beverley racer rode to a strong seventh place in the final round of the championship that took place at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

Free practice did not go quite to plan for the Yorkshire rider as the session was marred by damp, slippery conditions. But he went well in qualifying to finish in eighth place to start his final race from a third row grid position.

It was nearly all over for Usher in morning warm up on Sunday when his quick shift broke but he made it back to the pits and the quick shift was repaired prior to the start of his race.

As the 14 lap race got underway Usher got a bad start finding himself down in 11th position at the end of the first lap. But once he settled he began to make progress through the field to eighth on lap 12. On the final lap he was elevated to seventh place when Hudson Kennaugh crashed at Druids and he held station to the chequered flag to pick up nine championship points which bring his total to 64 and place him ninth in the overall standings at the end of a fiercely fought championship.

Usher commented: “I didn’t get the best of starts which was down to me not really trusting the quick shift that had let me down during morning warm up. But once I got my confidence up I began to make my move forward. I am really pleased that I was able to bring the bike home safely for nine championship points which give me a ninth place in the rider standings at the end of the season.

“Thanks go to my team and sponsors for their help this year, we have had a few problems but overall the season has been really enjoyable. I would like to have another crack at the title next year but that will be down to securing the support of a few sponsors. If anyone would like to help me challenge for the title then please get in touch so that I can explain the advantages of becoming a race team sponsor.”
