Beverley Headteacher To Take Up Improvement Post

A Beverley headteacher is leaving to take up a post as improvement adviser with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Brian Stillings, headteacher of CE Primary School, has helped to steer the school to be judged ‘good’ at its last Ofsted inspection. More recently he has become an Ofsted inspector, judging the effectiveness of schools across the north of England.

Mr Stillings, who has previously been headteacher at Barmby on the Marsh Primary School and deputy headteacher at Elloughton Primary School, will join the council’s advisory service in January, supporting primary schools across the East Riding.

Mr Stillings said:

“I have been very proud to serve as the headteacher of Beverley Minster CE Primary School. It has been a privilege to work with such talented pupils, hardworking staff, supportive parents, the Minster family and a knowledgeable governing body who have offered challenge and support in equal measure.

“I have been very proud of the changes initiated at Beverley Minster CE Primary School and would now like to use my skills and experience to offer support and challenge to schools in the county so that every child attends at least a good school.”

, the council’s head of education and schools, said:

“We are delighted that Brian has decided to take on this new challenge and that he will be leaving Beverley in a position of strength. We are working with the governing body to recruit his successor and are confident that they will be successful in that endeavour.”
