At 11.56am today (Wednesday September 23, 2015) a passing police car came across what looked to be a very recent road traffic collision, on the A1079 between Jocks Lodge and Killingwoldgrave Roundabout involving a red Toyota Yaris and a Heavy Goods Vehicle Lorry.
At the scene, the Toyota Yaris was on fire and the driver was still inside the car.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris appears to have sustained serious injuries and officers remain at the scene at this time.
Road closures are in place between Jocks Lodge and Killingwoldgrave Roundabout, and are expected to be in place for several hours.
