Annual Martin Merrikin Charity Shield Well Supported By Club Members

Pete Kneeshaw, Graham Carver and won the Squash & Racketball Club Martin Merrikin Charity Shield this weekend.

Martin Merrikin was the Chairman of the club when he was involved in a cycling accident that left him severely injured.

Players from the club now play an annual competition at Norwood where they raise money which is donated to Mr. Merrikin’s family.

Jonathan Rollison from Beverley Squash & Racketball Club explained;

“The annual Martin Merrikin Charity Shield event marks recognition of a past chairman of the Squash Club who suffered a tragic accident in 2006.”

“Every year since 2007, players in teams have battled for the winners shield. Winners this year are Pete Kneeshaw, Graham Carver and myself.”

The shield was presented to the winners by Andrea Merrikin in the club house at the end of the competition.

Current club Chairman, Neil Gregory expressed his gratitude at the ongoing support, he said;

“I would like to thank all the players, organisers, especially John Daniel, and supporters for another very successful event on the club’s calendar.”
