Beverley Drop Points As Rangers Win at Longcroft

Town missed out on the chance to go top of the Humber Premier League after they were beaten 2 – 0 by Hessle Rangers.

A goal in each half was enough to ensure that Rangers left with all three points on wet Tuesday evening.

With no real recognised forward was again given the task to find the goals in a match that the manager Ross Cording said was a must win game.

While Beverley kept the ball well they lacked any real quality in the final third with the Rangers defence able to cope with ease.

Rangers took the lead sparking Town into action but it was the visitors who went in at the break with a goal advantage.

A much better start to the second half saw Town create a host of chances as they looked to get back on level terms.

Cording must thought it was going to be one of them nights when his side looked to have got level from a header only to see the Rangers keeper pull off a world class save.

As Town pushed for the equaliser they were caught out and Rangers scored their second of the game, all but ending any hopes Town had of getting a result.

Speaking after the match Cording said;

“Having slept on it I feel the performance was fine, just a lapse in concentration for each goal. In front of goal we needed that ‘fox in the box’ and with their keeper in fine form it could have been a two clear goal margin for us.”

“As it was, the Humber Premier League again showed you can’t drop your guard against anyone.”

“This weekend sees the return hopefully of two of our three recognised forwards so hopefully our result will reflect this.”

Defeat sees Beverley drop to 8th place in the Humber Premier League. Saturday they face another tough test as they hit the road for their match with South Cave.

Final Score: 0 Hessle Rangers 2
