New Bus Route To Boost Flemingate Development

Beverley Bus Stop

Hull-based bus company East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) has announced that it will be rerouting one of its popular bus services to serve Beverley’s new development.

The new route for Service X80 will give residents of Hessle, Anlaby, Willerby and an easy way to get to the new retail and leisure park, which will include shops, and a cinema, as well as the new site for East Riding College’s Beverley campus.

A spokesperson for East Riding College welcomed the move, saying “We see the rerouting of the X80 service as a very positive move. This will help our students be able to get to college in a timely manner, and the service is very easily accessible from new stops along Armstrong Way.”

Flemingate Centre Manager, Graham Tait, has welcomed the new bus link. He added: “The Flemingate Centre is designed to serve the entire region, not just Beverley, and we anticipate a significant number of our visitors will come from the villages and Cottingham.

“It was therefore essential that we worked closely with EYMS to develop a transport plan and introduce new services that will be ideal for shoppers, as well as those visiting the new cinema and cafes.”

EYMS Commercial Manager Bob Rackley said: “Earlier this year we decided to send our Hull-Beverley-Hornsea Service 246 via the new Flemingate site, and reaction from passengers has been very positive. The new X80 route will enable shoppers and students in the West Hull villages to get to Flemingate easily, and we’re hoping this will encourage more people to visit this attractive market town, without the need to bring their cars.”

The service will start serving Flemingate from Monday 7 September, just in time for the new students to start at the brand new state-of-the-art college campus. Buses will stop right outside the development at the new bus stops on Armstrong Way.
