In July, East Riding of Yorkshire Council launched a public consultation on the Land to the South West of Beverley Draft Masterplan.

Due to the high level of interest in the masterplan, the council has arranged an additional public drop-in session. This will provide a further opportunity for members of the public to view the draft masterplan and discuss the proposals with a planning officer. It will also include information on the issues that were identified by members of the public at an earlier consultation event last month.

The session is being held at The , Champney Road, Beverley, from 2-7.30pm, on Tuesday, 1 September.

To accommodate the additional drop-in session, the deadline for comments has been extended to Monday, 14 September.

The draft masterplan has been prepared to guide how development in the south west of the town will take place.

In total, the land is allocated to provide around 1,900 new homes, significant areas of open space, a new primary school and an extension to Primary School.

The proposed design of the development would also need to:

• maintain key views of Beverley Minister by providing significant new open space and restricting the height of new buildings
• preserve Long Lane to encourage further walking and cycling along this corridor
• create new cycling, footpath and road links to connect with the existing network, including additional crossing opportunities over the rail line
• preserve significant vegetation on the site and enhance access to Keldmarsh Nature Reserve
• contribute towards affordable and specialist housing requirements and
• be of high-quality design, linking in with existing development, creating new public spaces and landmark buildings.

Residents and other interested parties can read the masterplan:

• online at www.eastriding.gov.uk/spd
• at Beverley library and at Beverley customer service centre.
• Responses can be made to the consultation:

Respondents can also speak to a planning officer about the documents
