won the £2,000 jackpot in our Big Fish Lottery Summer Superdraw – and promptly donated £1,000 back to the children’s hospice.

Mrs Leslie, 84, from Beverley, is going to use the remainder to take her friends from the 84 And A Half Club out for an expensive lunch!

The name of the club comes from their ages and, obviously, gets altered every year. The three pals meet up regularly and have been friends for more years than they can remember.

Marguerite’s three children and six grandchildren will also be having some fun days out on the winnings.

Upon being told she had won the money, she exclaimed:

“There must have been a mistake!” as although she never usually wins anything, she had just received a cheque for £25 from Big Fish.

“To win twice in one month is a double delight,” she said. Mrs Leslie became involved with St Andrew’s two years ago when she moved into the area from North Yorkshire.

A lottery representative called at her door to introduce the work of the children’s hospice and Marguerite was happy to join. She is now urging more people to get involved.

Marguerite is pictured here in her lovely garden, where she spends a lot of her time growing fruit and vegetables. Also pictured is her scarecrow, who she says, ”always makes her smile”.
