Keegan Rose Sees Red As Beverley Slip Up At Norwood

Lewis Sparks scored his second goal of the season for Beverley but it was not enough to seal the win as they were held by East Riding Rangers.

Rangers went into the match with 100% winning record and top of the Humber Premier League so this was not going to be an easy game for a youthful looking Beverley side.

In match that was sluggish at best Town both sides struggled to create any clear cut chances. Beverley however were gifted a goal when Sparks latched onto the poor pass to round the Rangers keep and slot the ball home into an unguarded goal.

With a one goal lead at half time Town looked in a strong position to go on and win the game though the second half proved to be as equally fruitless as the first half in terms of chances.

Town were reduced to ten men when picked up his second yellow card of the match as the game started to get a little more heated as the challenges flew in.

Beverley went close a couple of times though it was Rangers who found themselves level after they scored a scrappy goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in the match.

Rob Northen was introduced for and the talented forward almost restored the lead but his header was superbly saved by the Rangers keeper.

Speaking after the match, Beverley’s manager Ross Cording said;

“This was a battle as we expected but it shows how far we have come since Wawne game.”

“We seemed more concerned on the way they set up in second half than concentrating on our own game, but another learning curve game against a workhorse team  who hump it long.”

While Cording may not say it, this was two points dropped by Town who were caught with a sucker punch as they looked to make the game safe with second goal.

The point does see Town climb up to fourth spot in the Humber Premier League, just three points behind the current league leaders Sculcoates Armatures.

With no fixture this weekend Beverley will have to wait until September till they take to the field again. Their next match is against ,  who were well beaten by Wawne United this week.

Final Score: 1 East Riding Rangers 1
