A fascinating new exhibition – ‘Water Works’ – opens in on Saturday 25 July, and runs through to Saturday 5 September.

Members of The Ebor Group of artists have taken their inspiration for this exhibition from a range of seascapes and riverscapes found among the East Riding Museum’s Collection. The various forms of media used in the exhibition include embroidery and felting, as well as the use of found objects and stained glass techniques, creating a body of work that is challenging and exciting.

The Ebor Group is a group of artists formed in 1996 with the aim of ‘developing personal work’. Based in York, the group has exhibited widely in the North of England, and is mentored by the professional artist Hilary Bower.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “The East Riding of Yorkshire is renowned for its stunning beaches and coastlines, so it’s wonderful to be showcasing artwork to embrace this beautiful feature of our county. I hope that lots of people will want to come and see what promises to be a fascinating exhibition.”

A member of The Ebor Group will also be hosting free artist demonstrations in the gallery on Saturday 25th too.

The exhibition will be running from 25 July to 5 September in the Beverley Art Gallery, Treasure House , Champney Road, Beverley, HU17 8HE. The Art Gallery is part of the Treasure House and is open from Mondays – Saturdays, offering a coffee lounge and gift shop.
