Beverley Braves Out Class Myton at Leisure Centre

Beverley Braves U15s produced an organised but very tough performance to take the win from a determined and tough Myton Warriors team who never gave up or took a backward step.

Braves gaffer Timothy Nicolini was left purring after he watched his side go toe to toe with a very physical side and come out on top at the Beverley Leisure Centre.

With two eye catching halves in the Myton team Beverley quickly set about dominating the tackles, keeping the Myton halves in check.

With some strong defence and some nice set plays from Sam Nicolini and Hoe Anguis coupled with the elusive Nathan Denison the Braves took on the Myton line on releasing Beverley’s big runners Brandon Leggitt, Will Husband and James Hutchinson.

Beverley took the lead early on and never lost control repeating their sets well. The second half brought about a renewed effort from Myton who were beginning to play some smart rugby.

Leggit was sent to the sin bin for what his manager described as a ‘committed challenge’ on the Myton halve back.

This turned the game again for Beverley with Elliot Young and Callum Leak and Edward Gibson really putting the Braves on the front foot with the ball in hand.

In defence the introduction of Louis Pearcy at prop brought some extra aggression for Beverley. As the Braves continued to play some nice set rugby showing their class in both attack and defence as Beverley proved too good for Myton.

Braves manager Nicolini said after the game;

“Notably the team really worked as a unit in attack in numbers which Myton couldn’t handle.”

“Our main focus as a side here at Beverley now is to compete with the top half teams for the remainder if the season and on this showing we could be in for some good competitive games of rugby.”

“A special note to young Lewis Miller making a return to the team after serious injury. What a comeback he had and only just missed out on man of the match.”

“This week I picked the powerful Reece Dixon at loose forward as our man of the match and he was closely followed by the accurate and aggressive Sam Nicolini at hooker.”

“Today’s game showed was a fantastic team effort, it was good to see the lads playing in different positions.”

“We were without six regular players who are missing through injury too making the win all that more impressive.”

“I would also like to mention Max Sutherland and Cameron Cree. The pair of them had a huge part to play in the team efforts today, well done boys.”
