I Blame Myself: 'Tails Never Fails' at the Kirkella Oval

Alex Nightingale has blamed himself after the ’s third team unbeaten run came to an end at the Kirkella Oval.

His comments, referring to the toss of a coin followed a match that saw his side lose by six wickets to their promotion rivals Kirkella.

When speaking to Nightingale after the game spirits were still high in the dressing room. When quizzed about the batting efforts the skipper said;

“Yeah we were not good enough today in the batting department, it has been a while since we have been asked to bat first and you could tell today.”

“Perhaps it was my fault at the toss not calling ‘tails’ as apparently it never fails at the Kirk  Ella Oval.”

Nightingale was the only player to contribute with the bat scoring a hard working 32 before being caught behind. The team eventually fell to 82 all out.

Kirk Ella made light work of the total and passed Beverley’s total for the loss of 4 wickets.

Nightingale added;

“The spirit of the team has to be commended as they battled to the end making it tough for the Kirk Ella batsman throughout their innings.”

“I know we lost today but I really enjoyed it and I think everyone did, spirits are still high and as a team we want to get promoted.”

“We came in today with some fresh faces and I am sure they want to continue to play for this team.”

“This great run has come to an end but we would have taken this at the start of the season. We are only 20 points behind off second place which would get us promoted.”

“So it is all to play for in the coming weeks.”

Next week Beverley will welcome North Dalton, a side that have lost four times this season, to the Norwood Recreation Ground.
