East Riding Leisure Beverley Officially Opened

The £1.2 million refurbishment of East Riding Leisure was officially opened this morning by the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Peter Turner.

Speaking at the opening, the leader of the council, Councillor OBE, said:

“I am delighted that we are able to see continuing improvements in our leisure provision across the East Riding. As a council, we have taken a different approach to many other local authorities – we are not closing or privatising these facilities, but instead we are keeping them open and improving them.”

“We have the right Business Plan in place which allows us to have Leisure Centres which contribute to the council budget. I am proud that East Riding Leisure is in the Top Ten organisations in the UK for customer satisfaction, and that in particular consistently wins in the APSE Public Service Excellence Awards.”

“It’s particularly pleasing that the Centre plays a vital role in the GP referral scheme and in the Public Health of the East Riding, and is of course in a partnership with the new campus of , soon to open across the road in Flemingate.”

The council recently completed the redevelopment of the Tone Zone fitness suite and other areas of the Centre, which now boasts a dedicated RPM studio and group exercise studio.

The new Tone Zone is double the size of the previous gym, and now houses more than 90 pieces of state of the art equipment.
