East Riding Theatre To Act As Festival Hub

The East Riding Theatre will be open during the coming weekend to support Folk Festival.

During the event the venue will act as the town centre hub for the Beverley Folk Festival.

They will be providing information, selling programme. Bus timetables with the shuttle bus picking up and dropping off at the theatre as part of its circuit, to and from the Festival Village at .

Gordon Meredith, one of ERT’s Directors said;

“We wanted to support the festival this year by increasing its town centre presence and help to provide information about the event to locals and anyone staying at the town’s B&Bs and hotels.”

“After discussions with the festival directors we agreed to make ERT the ‘dance hub’, providing a port of call for the dance teams and somewhere they can congregate and perform.”

“This is a very experimental process this year and we are really just opening our doors to see what happens.”

“The dancers will perform inside the venue, in the cafe and in the auditorium, but also we hope that musicians will turn up and strike up a session in the cafe or do a bit of busking.”

“There is no specific programme or any booked acts, but we hope to encourage people to come and check out the venue and soak up the atmosphere of the festival before catching a shuttle bus up to the racecourse for the main event.”

East Riding Theatre’s box office will also be open for any visitors wishing to purchase tickets for any of the up and coming shows, including ‘Austen – the musical’, on stage the following weekend, 26 and 27 June, and other shows throughout June and July.
