Beverley Singer Overcomes Stage Fright To Perform at Durham Ox

Ellen Brooman says she is open to performing again in the Durham Ox after the young singer performed there during the pubs .

Ellen, who is 23 used spent over two years pulling pints in the Norwood boozer overcame her nerves to perform live, speaking to .net Ellen said;

“Loads of people turned up to the Durham Ox, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I absolutely loved it. If Ian asks me again I would welcome the chance to perform there again.”

“Last year, I performed live at Armstrongs Social Club, but I was so nervous and I hated it so cut it short and vowed I’d never do it again.”

“When I performed at Armstrongs I had really bad stage fright. I agreed to perform at the Durham Ox as I do not want my nerves to hold me back.”

The response from regulars in the pub was a very positive one with Ellen getting plenty of support from friends during her performance.

In October, Ellen quit working at the Durham Ox to pursue her career as a Nurse working the A&E department at .

Some of the artists who inspire Ellen include Ben Howard, Kodaline and , Ellen said;

“I’ve been singing since I can remember, but I only started playing the guitar about 2 and a half years ago. I just enjoy acoustic really, I love acoustic music, so these musicians do influence me in some ways.”

Posting videos of herself singing on social media often gets thousands of views, as her confidence grows she is taking on more gigs.

Ellen said;

“I have another gig booked in York for a charity do, and I’m not sure when after that but I am hoping to do some open mic nights around and about Beverley.”

Ellen like many singers is still looking for her big break. She may not have to wait too long for her chance. When asked whether she will be applying to any of the major talent shows Ellen said;

“I have applied for The Voice this year…so we’ll see.”
