East Riding Leisure Beverley Launch New Online Booking System

Customers at East Riding Leisure Beverley can now take advantage of a new way of booking their courses, sessions and sports courts online, thanks to software designed and led by the council in partnership with local company Fidelity Systems.

Unique in the UK, the mobile-friendly software – also designed for tablets and desktop computers – allows users to log in to East Riding Leisure Beverley either as a member or non-member. Classes can be booked by type, date or activity, and users can see at a glance if particular classes are fully booked.

The software covers many classes each week at Beverley, and members of East Riding Leisure Beverley can book up to eight days ahead (seven days for non-members). Cancellations can be made online, and all bookings made via the app are confirmed via email.

In common with other online purchasing software, customers make their purchases via a basket and checkout system. Payments can also be made securely online.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “There’s an amazing variety of items available online via this system, and it’s particularly pleasing that our monitoring and feedback show that it appeals to all ages, young and old. We aim to develop it further, to enable it to include the huge range of courses from swimming lessons to gymnastics including our educational services such as first aid courses. We are also aiming to expand it in due course to cover East Riding Leisure and then Haltemprice, as the next stage of its eventual introduction across our leisure and health facilities.

“This software is already beginning to revolutionise the way customers book and interact with us, and it’s very exciting that it is unique in the country because of the way that it is designed to handle bookings across a range of complex scenarios. The software also synchronises with our tills and customer relationship management system.

“Our new system works across all devices and at any screen size, so customers get the same experience across all platforms, ranging from an iPhone/Android type smart-phone to tablets such as the iPad, Kindle Fire and Samsung Note, all the way up to a full size desktop PC.”

This exciting new approach to online booking lends itself perfectly to NHS Healthchecks, the national NHS programme which aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia, and is available to everyone between the ages of 40 and 74. Local GPs can also access this new booking system and refer appropriate patients to the council’s Leisure service, who now find it easier to book lessons at Beverley or have sessions booked for them.

Paul Lowsley, chairman of Fidelity Systems plc, added : “We are pleased to be associated with this unique approach to East Riding Leisure services, which truly puts the customer first. This software has laid a solid foundation for continuous improvement in customer service.”

East Riding Leisure’s new facebook and feed is due to launch in the near future to maximise its presence on social media, providing more channels to allow customer engagement.
