The ever-popular Beverley Community Choir will be performing an evening of and song at Toll Gavel Church, Beverley, on Saturday 16th May at 7.30 PM and will be supported by the young and talented East Riding Suzuki Violin Group.

Having participated with three other local choirs in the successful Daffodil Concert at Longcroft School last month, this outing in May is the choir’s traditional annual event to raise money for local charities.

Beverley Community Choir has gone from strength to strength since forming in 2003 and this concert should see the choir exceeding the £10,000 members have helped to raise for local charities through their and CD sales.

Led by their inspirational Musical Director, Sue Murray, the choir has over fifty members who meet once a week to practise and share the fun of group singing.

Specialising in a cappella singing, the choir loves to perform a wide range of songs from around the world.  Having supported many well-known musicians over the years, including The Mandolinquents; Charlie Dore; Black Umfolosi 5; The Watersons; Acoustic Chumba Wumba; Community Gospel Choir, and the Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band, the choir regularly attracts a full house in their own right and have recorded their first CD entitled Chasing Rainbows.

The young violinists, who are supporting the choir again this year, have all been instructed in the way of Shin’ichi Suzuki  a Japanese musician who coined a philosophy of musical education which emphasises that all children have the capabilities to perform and enjoy music. Aged between five and 17, the youngsters perform a varied repertoire, which never fails to impress and entrance the audience.

Tickets: are just £7 or £5 for concessions and will be on sale from choir members or from Beverley Tourist Information Centre.
