BEVERLEY FOLK FESTIVAL : A Yard Of Folk

How do you fancy the idea of a Beverley Folk Festival in miniature?

That’s what’s planned for Saturday 9th May in Swaby’s Yard, Beverley, between and .

Local singers and musicians associated with the Beverley Folk Festival will be playing in Swaby’s Yard between 12 noon and 4pm as a curtain-raiser for this year’s annual festival on Beverley Racecourse.

Taking part will be young from the festival’s development programme, ‘The Westwood Sessions’, plus the odd surprise guest.

Said a festival spokesperson:

“Swaby’s Yard is the perfect setting for our festival taster. It’s a quiet backwater, just off Saturday Market, and has the added advantage of two café’s and Chequers micro-pub within a few yards.

Folk Festival organisers will also be manning a stall in Saturday Market on the same day as part of the promotional build-up to the big event held from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June.

This year the festival will feature over 80 acts including Seth Lakeman, Ralph McTell, Barbara Dickson, Hayseed Dixie, Peatbog Faeries, comedian Patrick Monahan, crime writer Mark Billingham plus many more performers.

There’ll also be an extra concert prior to this year’s festival with an appearance by the legendary Bootleg Beatles at the Racecourse on Thursday June 18th.
