Gary Shores, UKIP

An opinion poll conducted by HU17.net over the past 36 hours has revealed that UKIP appear to be the front runners in Beverley.

To date some 246 have participated and have been asked a simple question, who will you vote for in the election?

Of the votes cast, UKIP have polled 36% while Labour have polled 30% with the Conservative party polling 18% of the vote.

Gary Shores, the parliamentary candidate for UKIP when presented with the figures said he was not surprised.

Speaking to HU17.net he said;

“This is just reflecting what people are telling us on the street. It reflects the discontentment the normal man has with the current regime that is ruling the country.”

“Since coming to power the Conservative Party have doubled the national debt and its now that people are finding out they are not the prudent party they make out to be.”

While some might be shocked UKIP are ahead in the poll, raising questions whether Beverley is in fact a racist place Mr. Shores was quick to dismiss such accusations towards his party, he said;

“You only have to look at our candidates and the members of UKIP to see we’re not a racist party.”

“When we are canvassing, we are finding people who previously voted Conservative are looking for an alternative and that alternative is UKIP.”

“These voters are not going to jump from the right to the left and for them UKIP is a natural choice.”

The poll conducted by HU17.net when compared directly with the national polls published on the BBC website show figures are not too dissimilar.

There is however only obvious change is that between the Conservatives and UKIP. Nationally UKIP have just 15% of the poll of the Conservatives atop the table 34%.

and the other parties all have similar results to that which have been shown on the poll conducted by HU17.net.

Mr Shores added;

“Our party is attracting a broad set of people. Only this week I was in a local pub in Beverley and people talking politics.”

“They had no idea what party I was with but their conversations with very political and they were all leaning towards voting UKIP in the election.”

“There are a lot of first-time and second time voters have not been used to politicians telling the truth.”

“UKIP to them is a breath of fresh air as we are prepared to say the things tell the truth unlike the other mainstream parties.”

HU17.net will continue to run the opinion poll and leave it open until the day of the election. Anyone wishing to take part can do so by clicking here.
