Get On Your Bikes Beverley! And Help Children Across The Region

Two cyclists are calling for the people of Beverley to get on their bikes and help disabled and disadvantaged children in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The second Humber Bridge Sportive takes place on June 14, organised by teacher Ian Nicholls and Hymers parent .

More than 300 riders took part in the inaugural event last year, the first of its kind to include the Humber Bridge, and raised £4,500 for local charities.

Its success has prompted the pair to pick up their helmets again, and they are calling for more to join them and raise money for Echoes Foundation.

To ensure the event is accessible for all, there are two routes cyclists can take. A leisurely 21 mile route, and a challenging 61 mile route. Both share the first 12 miles and circle back to the north side of the Humber Bridge, taking in the pleasant scenery of North Lincolnshire on relatively traffic free roads.

Ian, who has taught at the Hull college for 33 years, hopes that this year’s event will see even more support.

He said:

“Everyone who took part commented that they had had a wonderful day. There was a terrific atmosphere, and we are all really proud to have raised that much for charity, and hope we can attract even greater support this year.”

The Echoes Foundation supports hundreds of children across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire who have special needs. It has a state of the art sensory room and loans out special toys and equipment to families who are unable to access the unit. It also provides support for parents.

The Humber Bridge Sportive takes place on Sunday, June 14 and entry is from £6, with all proceeds going to charity.

Full route details and entry form can be found on the website at www.humberbridgesportive.co.uk.
