Old Food That’s Not Past Its Best Before Date

Treasure House

Treat yourself to something different this Easter at the Heritage Food Fayre, being held at the on Saturday, 28 March from 9am-4pm.

Using historic documents, the staff there have delved into the Archives and re-created recipes from the 1500s to the 1920s to raise money for the charity ‘Mind’ in this special one-off food sale.

Some of these recipes are hundreds of years old and this, quite probably, is the first time in centuries that many of them have been tried and tasted.

To find out what hot cross buns tasted like in 1907, or nibbling on sugar cakes that were eaten in Elizabeth I’s time, come along to the Heritage Food Fayre this Saturday.

The food will sell fast, so attend early to avoid disappointment.

For more information, visit the Treasure House on Champney Road, HU17 8HE or call (01482) 392794.
