Short Course For Alcohol Licence Holders

People who run pubs, bars, restaurants and off licences can take advantage of a one-day East Riding College course as they look to renew their licence this year.

All 2,000 personal licence holders in the East Riding have been reminded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure theirs does not expire over the coming months.

The ten-year licences were introduced through the Licensing Act in 2005 and many are now up for renewal.

The College runs a one-day government-approved course called the Level Two Award for Personal Licence Holders, which helps people to ensure they meet the requirements of the legislation.

Jaqui Graham, the College’s short course co-ordinator, said:

“Many hundreds of people in the region will need to renew their personal licence over the coming months and enrolling on this short course now is the ideal way to ensure you are prepared in advance and do not put your business in danger of losing its licence to serve alcohol.”

“It is appropriate for new licence applicants or as a refresher for existing licence holders and is a fast and effective way to ensure you have the qualities and knowledge to make a successful application.”

The qualification provides candidates with essential knowledge of the legal framework surrounding the sale of alcohol in England and Wales.

This includes key information on the responsibilities of personal licence holders, duties of the Designated Premises Supervisor, the role of licensing authorities and police powers relating to licensed premises.

Holding this or an equivalent qualification is required as part of the personal licence application process and will enable those selling or authorising alcohol sales to operate both legally and responsibly.
