Jess Warsap Speaks To Matt Lapinskas Ahead Of His Visit To The East Riding

HU17.net caught up with Matt Lapinskas who is starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat this month at The Spa Bridlington.

Matt has appeared in the hit TV shows Eastenders and also Dancing on Ice and will be coming to the East Riding later in the month.

In an interview with Jess Warsap, Matt spoke about the forth coming show at The Spa Bridlington.

He said;

“I am really looking forward to seeing Bridlington and surrounding areas in the East Riding, the Spa

Bridlington is a nice venue to perform in. For me it will be very interesting different crowds react and how they receive it.”

Matt will be playing the character of the Pharaoh in the production starring alongside singer Amelia Lily as the narrator and X Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels taking on the role of Joseph.

A family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music have resulted in numerous productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

According to the Really Useful Group, by 2008 more than 20,000 schools and amateur theatre groups had successfully put on productions.

Talking about his character and his preparations for the show Matt said:

“I envision the character and listen to Elvis in my dressing room beforehand to get into the character of the Pharaoh as the Pharaoh is obsessed with Elvis.”

“I get inspiration from the people I work with and the actors/actresses I admire, but a big part of my inspiration comes from my Nan as she performed when she was younger.”

Finally we asked Matt if he had any advice to give any aspiring performers out there who want to follow in his footsteps.

He said:

“You need dedication and to believe in yourself, dream, believe and achieve.”

Commenting on the show, a spokesperson for The Spa Bridlington said;

“Joseph is one of those musicals that everyone has heard of, and after 45 years since it was first performed it continues to attract audiences worldwide. We are delighted to welcome the show and cast to The Spa Bridlington.”

“By having musicals such as this at The Spa Bridlington, it means that touring musicals remain on to be performed on the Yorkshire coast.”
