East Riding Libraries are inviting of all ages and abilities to access the Internet by spending some time in their local library and Be Online!

The Be Online! campaign takes place from 23 February – 8 March 2015 and is the perfect time to gain some new skills online.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said : “East Riding Libraries use the Learn My Way website for residents who want to access online training at their own pace.

“If you’ve never been on Learn My Way before, you can get started easily with Online Basics. If you’re already familiar with some Learn My Way courses, then now’s the time to have a look around and see what new things you could learn in 2015.

“If you already consider yourself to be  a computer whizz, why notthink about any friends or family members who could benefit from a little help with being online…. and let them know how they can get started on Learn My Way at their local library.”

The Be Online! campaign has three key themes: health skills, skills and the skills to enjoy life online  – these include using the NHS Choices website, using GP services online, healthy eating, job hunting online, jobs and interviews, letter writing, form filling, shopping online, learning a new language, touch typing, art and crafts, history, cookery, gardening, and much more.

Residents who wish to see how being online could improve their lives professionally and personally should call their local East Riding library for more information or drop in and ask the staff.
