First Ever Harry Potter Book Night Is Spellbinding Across The East Riding

Wizarding Fun At Beverley Library

Bloomsbury Children’s Books invited libraries to host events in celebration of the first ever Book Night on Thursday 5 February.

at Beverley, , Goole, Hedon, Howden, North , Snaith and took part with groups of children from the local area. The famous Sorting Hat separated them into the Hogwart’s School houses of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Ravenclaw and visitors were able to decorate the relevant badges and ties.

Props were available for some wonderful wizard poses before they were called to respond to a disastrous escape of some magical creatures. ‘Rare Red Scorpions’, ‘Wrackspurts’ and ‘Blubbering Humdingers’ were gathered up in the hunt for the escaped animals before some creative spell writing took place in Charms Class and each child left with their own spell book.

Bloomsbury’s Event Kit provided some amazing ideas for activities as well as quizzes, quotes and stickers. Many of the children arrived in full fancy dress, as did the library staff!
