From Little Acorns… Learn How To Grow Your Business

An inspirational event for people to put their questions to some of our region’s most successful owners will be held at Beverley Art Gallery on Tuesday 17 March from 6-8.30pm.

Representatives from four East Yorkshire businesses, Mr Moo’s, Get Extra, GOLGV Training Services and Wold Top Brewery, will discuss their experiences of business growth at the event, which is being co-hosted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and ProVerb (The Professional Voice of East Riding Businesses).

The evening will feature video footage summarising each company’s journey to success followed by a question and answer session giving guests the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of their owners’ experiences. The event also includes special guest and compere Kate Sweeting from BBC Look North.

Councillor , cabinet portfolio holder for economy, investment and inequalities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The East Riding is home to a number of business successes and we hope that, by showcasing their story, they can help inspire others.

“There are more than 12,500 businesses operating in the East Riding, with 87 per cent of these (11,125) classified as micro-firms, with 0-10 employees, and a further 9.5 per cent (1,208) indentified as small firms of between 11-49 employees.

“By hosting events with highly-knowledgeable and inspirational guest speakers, the council aims to provide a forum where small businesses can access practical advice and support which is vital in helping them flourish and prosper.”

Kate Crawford, owner of marketing consultancy and services company, Clear ComPosition, added:

“Because micro-businesses like ours account for such a huge proportion of businesses in our area, we were clear when we formed ProVerb that we wanted to provide them with a voice and mutually supportive network.

“By showing how other business owners have overcome similar challenges to achieve success from humble beginnings, we hope to inspire people at whatever stage they are in their own business journey.”

Tickets for the event are free, but are limited to 60, and the council would advise people to book early to avoid disappointment.
