We Thoroughly Deserved The Win Says Craig Fawcett

assistant manager Craig Fawcett believes his sides win against local rival Inter Beaver will help give his side a much-needed confidence boost.

With the scores deadlocked 1-1 at half time, the Colts winner came from their talisman Mike Claxton, who finished with a sweet shot to clinch the win and bragging rights.

Speaking after their 2-1 win at Longcroft School, Fawcett said;

“This was a Tough encounter. We have had an awful start to season and back to back wins against the side top of league Myton 6-1 and Beaver 2-1 will give us the confidence we need.”

“We wanted it more at the end of the day. Respect Inter they put us under a lot of pressure at our end but centre backs Adam Waller and Ben Daniels were immense and soaked up everything they had.”

“Our keeper didn’t have much to do all game. However, had it not been for Matthew Dixon in their goal, it could have been a more comfortable win as we were causing them problems on the counter with Claxton leading the line.”

Encounters between the clubs have not always passed off peacefully. Back in January 2011 there were ugly scenes involving players then ended in a brawl.

On Saturday, however, the match was hard but fair. Fawcett said;

“I felt the game was played in the right spirit. Inter had a few star players missing from last year, but I thought our lads were terrific from 1-16.”

When asked if his side deserved all three points Fawcett said;

“We thoroughly deserved the win. I don’t remember another shot on target from Inter apart from the goal.”

“They had a lot of possession but fluffed their lines on more than one occasion. Inter had no end product. It is all about taking your chances, not having the ball in midfield.”

“No one is saying they didn’t boss the game, but we went with a game plan and came away with the result. Inter embarrassed us last year. It was not happening again.”

Final Score: Inter Beaver 1 Humber Colts 2
