A new exhibition, “Bygone Buildings”, opens at the this week. The exhibition, which will run until May 2015, looks at many of ’s old buildings to see who used them, how they were used and what happened to the building ultimately.

, curator of the where the Community Museum is located, said,

“Often while we are researching our exhibitions we find fascinating images of old buildings in the Beverley Art Gallery collection.”

“We therefore decided to take these as our starting point and find out more about them. Each of the museum volunteers selected some buildings they thought looked interesting and researched them further to discover the building’s story.”

“Obviously we were unable to look at all of them so there is plenty of opportunity if other people want to take the same starting point and do some of their own research!”

“Bygone Buildings” will run from Friday, 5 December 2014 to Friday, 29 May 2015 inclusive.

The Guildhall is open from 10am to 4pm every Friday, from 10am to 1pm on Wednesdays until the end of April and from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays from 1 May, admission is free.
