Longcroft Students Take To The Stage With “Half A Sixpence”

After several weeks of learning lines, building sets and evening rehearsals, this year’s production at is the classic musical Half a Sixpence, which takes place on 3rd and 4th December.

Made famous in the 1960s by Tommy Steele and based on the H. G. Wells novel entitled Kipps: The Story of a Simple Soul, the musical tells a tale of unexpected fortune, friendship and raises the question of which is more valuable, love or money?

Julie Harris, Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts, said: “I’m really proud of all the students who have worked so hard on this production – from those on stage and in the orchestra, to backstage and technical crews, everyone has given 100%. The staff involved have also been fantastic, giving up much of their spare time to help this be a success.”

Longcroft has a long reputation stretching back decades for the quality of their school productions and everyone involved is confident that Half a Sixpence will be worth its weight in gold!
