Crystal Tiaras & More, the Beverley based micro business specialising in bespoke headwear and accessories for special occasions, say 2014 has been a good year for business attracting customers from all around the UK.

Their award winning, bespoke hats are often worn at many of the top social events around the country, including and .

Trading for 8 years, Crystal Tiaras & More have seen a big increase in customers buying their bespoke hats, fascinators, bridal headwear and Vintage Brooch Bouquets.

Speaking to .net, business owner Joanne Perkins said;

“Since going online, our customer-reach has most certainly increased. We now get customers through our own website and by using social media, with Facebook and Twitter proving to be a very useful tool.

Crystal Tiaras & More also work with a number of shops in Beverley, Hull and the East Riding that specialise in Occasion Wear. To reach new customers, Joanne has built relationships with outlets in the Bridal and Occasion Wear business, as her ability to colour-match with the outfits they sell adds real value for everyone involved.

Joanne said;

“In Beverley, my products are on show at The , Dynasty, Jacquelines of Beverley and Bridal Reloved. In Hull I have items with Wats On, Willerby Road, The Dressing Room, George Street, and Passion on Holderness Road. All the retailers are very supportive. We work together, and this approach has helped me grow my business by bringing new customers to me.”

“By adopting this approach the customer gets the whole package, and for the shops it means their customers leave with something that is bespoke and perfectly compliments their outfit. With a choice of over 50 designs and 60 colours each piece that leaves the workshop is totally unique.”

Joanne added;

“No two items I produce are ever the same as they are all hand crafted to the customer’s specification, that is something that you just cannot get ‘off the peg’ on the high street.”

Another product that is produced right here in Beverley at her workshop is the Vintage Brooch Bouquet, these have been extremely popular with brides looking for something very special and different. Joanne said;

“Brooch Bouquets are very much in vogue. They are a new idea and not widely available. As with everything l make they are bespoke and can be customised.”

“These bouquets are heirlooms of the future. I have had customers who ask family and friends to donate brooches or even an odd earring which means I can hand craft something that is very personal and unique, adding a real sentimental value to the finished piece.”

In 2013 a hat made by Crystal Tiaras & More won Best Hat at The Journal Ladies Day at Beverley Races and this award, Joanne says, has helped raise the profile of her business.

She said;

“Ladies Day at Beverley Racecourse is the social occasion of the year of the year in our area.  To win Best Hat was not only good for my business but also very good for me on a personal level as it showed my work is well thought of.”

As the year draws to a close, Joanne is already thinking ahead as she looks to develop her bespoke jewellery business.  She said;

“2015 will be a big year for me. Bespoke jewellery has been very popular as ladies strive to achieve a unique look at the signature events in their social calendar, be it a day at the races or a family member’s wedding.”

“There tends to be a lot of marriage proposals during the Festive season so the New Year has always been a busy time of the year for me.”
