Local Heart Throb Craig Hancock Set For Emotional Return At Beaver Park

Beverley-RUFC1

Craig Hancock has turned his back on the capital city for the last time and has pulled up his roots to lay them down again in his home town of Beverley.

Hancock has always remained in close dialogue with during his period down in the big smoke searching for the streets that are paved with gold. The local heart throb has always described Beverley as where his heart is, and it’s where he feels spiritually at peace.

Hancock said;

“It has been a difficult decision to leave London as I have made great headway forging a career in something or another but the choice in the end to leave was a no brainer.”

Hancock has strong links with Beverley RUFC and has represented them through all the junior age groups and through most of his senior career.

Beaver’s legend who is also in the process of reserecting his playing carear with the club said;

“It is with great joy that we are able to start to include Craig in our plans for the future of the club. Craig has always been a difficult player to manage, and he is still apprehensive on his return.”

“He feels that his potential was not fully met before, and this is as a result of his attitude and also the fact that previous coaches and management at the club didn’t quite know how to handle a player of his stature both on and off the field.”

“He has always counted himself as a Sonny Bill Williams character with his ability to switch codes almost at will and also forge an exceptional boxing career which although at an amateur level he has had a number of successful bouts. Footage of most of his fights is available from Humberside Police on request.”

It has been the decision of the club to align Craig with a mentor who will be beneficial in reintegrating him back into the club and also ensuring that the Beavers get the best out of the former Mr. February.

The decision on Craig’s mentor was an easy one as there was one candidate that stood out head and shoulders above everyone else, and that is Tommy Shires. For all those that know Shires they are aware of the struggle that he has faced in order to get his taste of first-team rugby at the club.

It’s well documented his struggle to get his abilities noticed. He admits himself that he’s no angel, and he has had his off pitch scandals. There was the yoyo dieting that he struggled with from 2006 to 2008 but his weight is now a healthy and stable 17 stone, 4 pounds and the doctors and his management team are happy with this.

This made it clear that there was only one choice, and everyone at Beverley RUFC is happy with the decisions and now starting to look to the future.

Craig is to be introduced at training before he loses anymore pace, and after initial assessments and fitness tests the correct decisions in relation to his future within the club will be finalized.

The director of rugby was unavailable for any comment but was seen with his head in his hands, and he appeared to be crying when given the news that Hancock was back in the fold.
