Yorkshire Cancer Research Scoop Beverley Building Society Prize

September was host to three new charities in the ’s Charity of the Month competition. In a busy month of voting, Yorkshire Cancer Research were the customers’ choice to receive the £250 prize money.

Based in Harrogate, Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent charity that is committed to helping the people of Yorkshire avoid, survive and cope with cancer by funding world-class research.

Currently 554 new cases of cancer are being diagnosed each week in Yorkshire and with this number set to double over the next 20 years, there is need now, more than ever, to get behind the fight against cancer.

Pam Woodall, chairman of Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Beverley voluntary fundraising committee, said:

“We are delighted that Beverley Building Society have chosen to support us with this very generous donation. The support of local businesses is vital in our aim to improve cancer outcomes in Yorkshire.”

Running for over 2 years, the Beverley’s Charity of the Month competition has so far given members of the Society the opportunity to vote for 33 different charities, raising a total of £8,250.
