Sandal Game Gives Us A Chance Right Some Wrongs Says Tupai

Sandal Game Gives Us A Chance Right Some Wrongs Says Tupai

welcome the high flying Sandal this weekend to Beaver Park who arrive with a playing record in stark contrast to the men from East Yorkshire.

Sandal arrive for their National League 3 (North) fixture this Saturday on a four game winning streak having recently dispatched Cleckheaton 58-22 last week and in previous weeks Sheffield Tigers and Billingham.

Sandal bring an expansive game similar to Billingham with quick backs and mobile forwards and it will be a tough ask for the Beavers, but Director of Rugby, Junior Tupai is hoping are up for the task to holt the slide further down the table;

Tupai said;

“Saturday was pretty disappointing. We talked all week about having a good start and trying to get some early points on the board but we gifted two soft tries early doors and that cost us in the end.”

“Sandal won’t be too different to Billingham so it’s a good chance to right those wrongs from the Billingham. I’ve watched the game again and it continues to be frustrating.”

Beverley’s injury list seems to be dwindling each week but they still look slightly disjointed with most players still looking under done and lacking match fitness.

Tupai continued;

“Guys are coming back from injury but we’re still not at full strength but what team is throughout the season? We can’t use it as an excuse.”

“We have to suck it up, man up and front up deal with the task at hand which happens to be a very good Sandal team who will test us right across the park this week.”

“We were 21-17 up at half time against Billingham, so we’re not too far off. The guys are trying and the coaching team can’t fault that as it’s a game of fine margins for us at the moment and we’re on the wrong side of those margins at this point in time but we need to remain positive that our luck will change.”

Beverley could welcome the return of Lee Birch this week, but that welcome will be short lived with Birch agreeing to a contract to play rugby in Italy for the rest of this season which will commence after the Sandal game.

Ian Archibald who made a good fist of things against Billingham could also make another appearance and Matty Adams could also be involved having missed last weeks game through illness.
