Scandi Sensation’s Only UK Appearance This Autumn

AN AFTERNOON OF HISTORY TO ROUND OFF 10TH BEVERLEY LITERATURE FESTIVAL

Described as ‘The greatest story-teller of his generation’ by Norway’s leading newspaper, Aftenposten, Tore Renberg is the author of several novels which have achieved almost cult status in his native Norway, including the five iconic novels about the fallible antihero Jarle Klepp.

With the release of his latest book, See You Tomorrow, Tore will be making his only UK appearance this autumn at Beverley Literature Festival.

Writer, broadcaster, scriptwriter and musician, in 2004 Renberg was selected one of the ten best writers in Norway under 35 and has been described by Scandi Crime godfather, Jo Nesbo, as ‘one of Norway’s finest young writers.’. His previous novel, The Man who Loved Yngve, has already been adapted into a major film in Norway.

His critically acclaimed novel See You Tomorrow – considered by many to be a literary sensation – tells the story of a group of gangsters in Norway with a leader in the throes of a midlife crisis. A crime thriller, a coming-of-age story, an epic drama, a comedy, a romance, a gothic and starkly poetic tale of people making a complete mess of their lives, Tore paints a vivid portrait of the underbelly of society and human behaviour in one of the world’s richest cities, Stavanger.

Festival organiser Dorcas Taylor says:

“It’s a real coup to have Tore in Beverley this year. He has a massive following in his home country. It’s going to be a hugely exciting event, and a unique opportunity to meet a very famous Scandinavian author”

Tore Renberg will be appearing at Beverley Literature Festival on Tuesday 7th October, 7pm at Toll Gavel United Church. Tickets are available from www.bevlit.org, over the counter at , Champney Road, Beverley or by phoning the box office on 01482 392699.
