Beavers Head To Lymm As They Look To Get First Win Of The Season

make the trip across the Pennines this week to play Lymm RUFC. The beavers made a rusty start to their campaign last week going down 15 points to 44 at home to Morley.

A lack of combinations and injuries to Rob Smith (shoulder), Ben Revell- Jones (cut requiring stitches) and Stu Nel (ankle) didn’t help their cause but the Director of Rugby, Junior Tupai can see some positives from Saturday’s result.

He said;

“It’s not the most ideal start that we wanted to our season. We looked disjointed but that comes down to a lack of time together as a squad.”

“Defensively we let in some soft tries and that gives us some focus and direction this week.”

“The injuries don’t help with both Rob and Stu out now for 4- 6 weeks but that’s all part of the game and we just have to deal with it within our squad and be positive about it as it gives others an opportunity to stake a claim.”

Lymm suffered a similar defeat, losing 24 points to 41 away to Billingham in their first game and will be looking to collect their first win as well and being at home should bring some comfort to them.

Tupai commenting on Lymm;

“Lymm have returned to National 3 North after spending a season or two in National Midlands 3.”

“We played them a few years ago and lost both games by close margins.”

“Their pack generally isn’t the biggest but they are mobile and strong in the tackle.”

“Their backline will be marshaled by Joe Knowles who I know very well from the sevens circuit.”
