East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) and Hull are hosting another of their popular Big Bus Day events following the record attendance in 2013.

The family friendly event, which is free entry, takes place on Saturday 30 August, 10am – 4pm, at the Streetlife Museum on Hull’s High Street.

Attractions include free open-top bus trips around the city, a display of vintage and modern buses, a children’s trail and bus-related games and activities, the award-winning EYMS Brass Band, bus memorabilia and model stalls, facepainting, and much more – including a few surprises!

Ideal for both families and bus enthusiasts alike, there will also be a fascinating selection of buses to see, plus the opportunity to look around the Streetlife Museum of Transport.

The now annual Big Bus Day is one of the Museum’s most popular events, with over 5,600 people attending in 2013. This year is expected to be ever busier after the event was featured on the recent Channel 5 show ‘On The Yorkshire Buses’.

, chairman of EYMS, said:

“Big Bus Day has always been popular, but since the event was on television a few weeks ago we’ve had people from as far afield as , Surrey, Nottingham and Teesside telling us they’re planning to visit. We’re glad it’s putting Hull on the map!”

Robin Diaper, Curator of Maritime and Social History at the Streetlife Museum said:

“We are always delighted to welcome EYMS and the Big Bus Day to the Museums Quarter. It is one of our major events, enjoyed by many families as a fun and free day out.”

Admission and most activities are free, although profits from sales and programmes will be donated to the NSPCC and we will also be inviting donations for activities and bus rides which will also go to the charity which will have representatives at the event.
